With Carroll out for the rest of the season we have a first eleven ( underperfoming right now ) and no cover of sufficient standard.

Yesterday Palace, yes Palace, had a far better bench than us. For me the only player of guaranteed first team level on the bench was Ginge.

Thought we were a hard team, dont think so after yesterday, loved the hard stuff myself...was cringing watching it last night...very lightweight we are.

What's wrong with Song? it was the right decision to sub him, perhaps bit too late, bit he seems soo off the boil now.

Someone tried to claim it was because Tomkins and Adrian chose not to pass to him a couple of times that he played so shit, bit I think it was the other way round. He's been so dodgy that the players ae losing confidence in him to give it to him in risky areas when he's the last man.

And if he did play shit because he wasn't given the balla ciuple of times, then who would want to sign a child like that?

He really needs to pull his finger out, as he was the weak link in the middle yesterday.

Personally I thought they outplayed us throughout. Used the ball better, had more energy and tempo and bullied us physically.
We were were slow and predictable and they had a solid shape that kept us at bay pretty comfortably.
We let them get in spaces in front of our back four and Adrian blocked a couple of clear first half shots on goal.
And then we let them score with 3 free headers in our box.
The last period of the game was irrelevant as they sat in with 10 men and let us have the ball.

Re: West Ham v Crystal Palace - Official Match Thread 1-3 FT
gutted the way we have tailed off, but I thought this would happen in late November. We are in the cluster of teams that can beat each other on their day. Top teams have the consistency, can put runs together.
We have to be realistic though - from when Allardyce took over to where we are now is amazing really when you look at teams like Bolton, Birmingham, Blackburn.
Each season we have seen improvement, and this season we don't have to worry about a relegation battle.
I think the club are doing things right in terms of gradual progression and there targets.
I know we all want to win trophies, see big players sign, but this is going to take time.
Unfortunately some fans will never be happy, but I live the way things are going.

Just get the feeling the season is just going to slip away into an average mid table finish. The damage was done before today in drawing with teams at the bottom which you have to take 3 points from. The team is not playing with confidence, is disjointed and doesn't seem to be particularly happy.

Every corner caused us trouble yesterday and without a keeper coming to claim some of those hanging crosses you always run the risk of knock downs and deflections. Should have had Collins in at least to deal with it.

I've lost all enthusiasm for the remaining games to be honest and just want the season over.

This reminds me of our first season back. We had enough points too early. The final few games Allardyce just sat down. How depressing for a player to look over and just see the opposition manager up and driving his players on.

Can he take the team forward? He doesn't look like a man busting a gut to get a new contract if I'm honest.

Re: West Ham v Crystal Palace - Official Match Thread 1-3 FT
its worry as we have the starting XI most of us wanted to see but looked very lightweight. A lot of demotivated players out there. Thing is 7th was achievable. Down at HT and yet no tactical changes from BFS.

"They dominated us and took the game to us. It was highly humiliating."

That ^

I'll add that is was also highly impressive from Palace. They had us worked out from the 20th minute onwards - which would've been Pardew's exact plan. How depressing it was that easy.

OM

I think that was alwaysd their gameplan, but we were so shit for the first 70 minutes that they didn't have to sit back much.

Re: West Ham v Crystal Palace - Official Match Thread 1-3 FT
They didn't sit back and hit us on the break until they were down to 10 men.

They dominated us and took the game to us. It was highly humiliating and Allardyce should be ashamed of it.

Re: West Ham v Crystal Palace - Official Match Thread 1-3 FT
We have always struggled to break down tthe teams that come to Upton Park and play a clogged up defence and high pressure game breaking quickly. It helps to have a big strong target man who can smash the fuck out of the defence and open doors up for the other players.

In short, we really missed big Andy yesterday. He would have given that dirty beard something else to think about other than assaulting our players.

Fucking furious losing to them happy clappers.

What do West Ham fans want?
Be careful what you wish for!

Piss off - I don't want to watch us lose to Palace at home for a start - nor did I wish for it.

Massive disappointment losing against Pardew's Palace, until we can manage to field a squad that can produce 2 teams with proper players in it we will struggle in this league.
My hope is that this will become a reality sooner rather than later. I thank Big Sam but don't think he is the man to take us to next level.

I think SA stops being effective as a manager when his team is safe.

The players need to push on regardless but it is difficult when the tactics aren't working and change is needed but doesn't come from the bench...

Meant to add.
Where was the tactical genius we have been hearing about.

GreenStreetPlayer 11:09 Sun Mar 1
Re: West Ham v Crystal Palace - Official Match Thread 1-3 FT
They wanted it more than us and were working harder closing us down and Pardew had set up to cut out the supply to Sakho and Valencia. That's when a manager worth his salt would have changed things after a while, but Allardyce just let things go.

The players had a sense of urgency in the last portion of the game, but no good having that when you are 3 nil down. Where were we before that.

Seems we are only lowly West Ham and the Team and manager think they've done the job of keeping us up. Well done Pardew and the Palace -no excuses for no effort.

Re: West Ham v Crystal Palace - Official Match Thread 1-3 FT
Ted you have a point but for some reason we played into there hands, we played as if carroll and nolan wbere playing launching the ball down scot danns throat, it was only when we stopped doing that in the last 15 we looked dangerous, we were passing the ball around outside there box playing balls to feet and cutting the ball back rather than aimlessly crossing it in.

allardyce got it wrong on this one, it seems like he knoes hes off and doesn't give a fuck to me.

stoneman 10:26 Sun Mar 1
Re: West Ham v Crystal Palace - Official Match Thread 1-3 FT
I would have thought that playing against a team who score the majority of their goals from set pieces would have meant playing Collins over Reid?

I would never play Collins against forwards of pace but up against Murray he would have been perfect.

Re: West Ham v Crystal Palace - Official Match Thread 1-3 FT
We simply didn't want it as much as Palace. Nothing to do with systems being found out we just lacked the required motivation.
